St. Augustine is on the Atlantic coast in the southeastern portion of the United States. It is located about 45 minutes south of Jacksonville,
the nearest "big city". We are fortunate to have a superb interstate system of roads making St. Augustine surprisingly convenient to reach
from other Florida cities such as Jacksonville, Orlando, Tampa and Miami.
Driving to St. Augustine
Interstate 95 is main north-south driving route to St. Augustine, starting at the Canadian border in Maine and going south through all of the eastern seaboard states. The interstate enters Florida at Jacksonville and passes through St. Johns County near St. Augustine, continuing south to Miami.
Flying to St. Augustine
The St. Augustine / St. Johns County Airport is a small community airport that has limited flights and carriers servicing other cities. The nearest large International airports are Jacksonville (JAX), Orlando (ORL) and Tampa (TPA). You might want to check the Daytona Beach airport as well (DAB)If you are visiting from out-of-state or country and interested in St. Augustine real estate, please contact me and I can help you pick the best airport and arrange for ground transportation.
Downtown St. Augustine
Once you reach St. Augustine you may want to stay in the downtown area, called the "Ancient City" or "Old Town". Another option if you prefer to be on the beach is St. Augustine Beach or several other small nearby communities.
Many of the historical tourist attractions are in the downtown area. Also you'll find excellent restaurants and wonderfully charming Bed and Breakfasts and convenient hotels. PS: Did I forget to mention that St. Augustine is a romantic vacation and tourist destination? Here are a few photos from Old Town in St. Augustine but you really should come see it in person. Bring your sweetheart. The historic downtown is too good not to share.
Why use a map when you have GPS???? I hear you, I use my GPS too!
Here's why..... it will help you see the location of the neighborhoods in relationship to downtown St. Augustine, shopping centers, schools, etc. It isn't like a regular street map, it offers more information.
So, my friends, if you would like a St. Augustine map, email me Janet@HistoricCoastHomes.com with your address and I'll get it right out to you. If you prefer, give me a call 904-599-2381 with the information.
